Google Nexus 7 vs Windows RT Surface: the New battle
It is certain that Google Nexus 7 has made its great success at the beginning of its release,however,more and more new featured tablets’ joining in the market surely weaken the influence of Nexus 7. Needless to say, Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Nook HD and the upcoming iPad Mini are the old rivals. And a new member Microsoft Windows RT Surface has been preordered available now. So can Microsoft take the control of the hardware market like the software? Maybe, but it is hard to say. The important thing we faced maybe which one will we should take in reasonable thinking. So, let’s just have a look at these two tablets.

- Price: Nexus 7 is priced at $199 for 8G and $249 for 16G.Surface RT starts at $499 for 32G without Black Touch Cover. The others are $599 for 32GB with Black Touch Cover,$699 for 64GB with Black Touch Cover.
- Display: Surface RT sports a 10.6 inch ClearType Full HD capacitive multitouch display with a resolution of 1366x768 (148 ppi pixel density), absolutely prior to Nexus 7, sporting a 7 inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels (216 ppi pixel density).
- Size: Surface RT measuring 9.3 mm thick and weighing 676 grams is slimmer and heavier than the Nexus 7, which comes 10.5 mm thick and weighs 340 grams.
- Processor: Google Nexus 7 comes with a quad core 1.3 GHz quad core NVIDAI Tegra 3(T30L) while Microsoft Surface is equipped with a 1.4 GHz quad core NVIDAI Tegra 3(T30). The tablets' Tegra 3 chips are fraternal twins.
- OS: Nexus 7 runs the latest and the most advanced Android OS Jelly Bean, bringing outstanding features like Project Butter, richer notifications, a new Voice Search feature, resizable widgets, Android Beam (using NFC technology, users can share data), Google Now (right information at right time), improved camera and many more.Surface RT runs on the Windows RT OS based on Windows 8, running only the Metro apps available through the Windows app store. The good news is it will include a version of Microsoft Office at no additional charge.
- Camera: Nexus 7 comes with a 1.2MP front camera which can record 720p videos and facilitate video calling. Surface RT will come with two 720p HD LifeCams: a front facing and a rear facing, but there are no other details revealed by the company as far yet.
- Storage: Nexus 7 comes in two versions – 8GB and 16GB, both with 1 GB RAM.And 32GB version will come. But, there is no micro SD card slot on Nexus 7.Surface RT also has two variants – 32GB and 64GB with a micro SD card slot and 2G RAM. In this term, Surface RT is better.
- Connectivity: Nexus 7 supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and micro USB 2.0 while the Surface RT features dual MIMO antennae for strong Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth. Rumors said that Nexus 7 will have the 3G version.
- Battery: Google Nexus 7 packs a 4325 mAh Li-ion battery whereas Surface RT comes with 3.15 W-h, both of the tables ‘use time can last approximately 8 hours.
